The University of Alabama Office of Information Technology Fall 2000

Getting a New PC?

There are two current versions of Windows available: Windows Millenium (Me) and Windows 2000. It sounds confusing, but it can be easy to decide between the two.

If you are purchasing a computer for your home, you should get Windows Me preinstalled. Windows Me is the continuation of the Windows 95/98 product line.

If you are getting a new computer for your office, check with your system administrator. Your department may use Windows 2000, which is the successor to Windows NT.
